What drew you to work here?
I was friends with Claire on the Dev team, and she recommended the culture at MoTech. At my interview, I really enjoyed meeting the senior devs. Everyone was so welcoming and approachable!
Do you have any pets?
I have two chaos gremlins (cats), named Hilly and Pip. Hilly is short for Hildegard von Bingen, the first woman composer in history, and Pip is short for Pip.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
I think envisioning something, sketching out all the ways I want it to work, and then seeing it actually come to life on the screen is very rewarding.
What personality trait of yours best serves your job?
It’s been really helpful to have a strong sense of curiosity while transitioning into software development. I like getting to the bottom of how things work and why.
What would it surprise your coworkers to know about you?
I worked as a college piano professor before I went into web development.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
I like hanging out with my partner, dreaming up a house project and going total Dad on it, playing board games with people, and reading. I also like making really great cups of coffee at home.
What's one place you must visit, that you haven't yet?
When I was in middle school, I really wanted to travel to Ireland. I started a whole ‘savings account’ (it was an old milk jug full of coins) for it. I haven’t made it there yet, but I think I owe it to middle school Amy to go someday.
If you could change any work policy, what would it be and why?
I think if it’s a perfect day outside, like 70 degrees and sunny, we could have the opposite of a snow day, and call off to go be in the sun. Like recess, but for the entire day.
If you could have an alternate profession, what would it be and why?
I worked as a barista before starting at MoTech and really enjoyed it. I think it would be fun to be in the coffee industry, enter competitions and teach other baristas. I definitely don’t miss the early mornings, though!
You have one hour of uninterrupted “Me Time.” What are you doing with it?
Probably researching a random thought I had on the internet or building something with Legos or a K’nex set.
