If you could change one thing about Motivation Technologies, what would it be and why?
I would change the name, because after four years, I still can’t stop calling the company “Motivational Technologies.”
What next-generation technology would make your job better/easier?
The ability to, near instantly, store and retrieve data outside of my own brain. There is a lot of random knowledge required for my job and it would be super helpful to have a memory backup.
What's one place you must visit, that you haven't yet?
I want to visit the Redwood forests in California.
You have one hour of uninterrupted “Me Time.” What are you doing with it?
Sleeping in an extra hour in the morning.
If you could have an alternate profession, what would it be and why?
I’d like to be a carpenter. It’s a profession that still involves problem solving but would allow me to move around a lot more.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
I like encountering and solving new problems.
What's one item on your bucket list and why?
I want to live in the tropics near a beach. It sounds very relaxing.
Deserted island choices: One movie, one book, one album.
Movie: I wouldn’t really want a movie. I don’t really enjoy watching the same movie repeatedly, so only having on option would likely cause more frustration than it would alleviate.
Book: Brush Craft 101: A Field Guide to the Art of Wilderness Survival
Album: Pretty much any LoFi album. They have a very relaxing/calming vibe that I think would help deal with the stress of being trapped on an island.
What drew you to work at MoTech?
I was an elementary school teacher for four years before deciding to pursue a computer programming career. After completing the LaunchCode program, MoTech gave me a shot on a three-month internship that transitioned into a full-time job.
What was your favorite toy as a child?
My bicycle. It was a massive source of freedom and independence.
